Sensory Processing Evaluation

This private-pay service is designed for families seeking answers about their child’s sensory processing patterns, whether concerns involve emotional regulation, feeding, sleep, play, transitions, attention, or participation in everyday routines.
Using standardized assessment tools and clinical expertise, I will identify your child’s unique sensory processing strengths and challenges and provide practical, individualized recommendations that can be implemented at home and in the community.

During the evaluation, we will:
Review your concerns and goals
Discuss your child’s developmental history and daily routines
Review and interpret the standardized assessment results
Explore how sensory processing may be affecting your child’s participation in daily life
Discuss your child’s strengths, needs, and individualized recommendations
Answer your questions and identify appropriate next steps

Following the evaluation, you will receive a comprehensive written report that includes:
Background information and caregiver concerns
Assessment tools administered
Standardized assessment results and interpretation
An explanation of your child’s sensory processing patterns
Your child’s sensory processing strengths and areas of need
The functional impact of sensory processing on daily routines
Individualized recommendations and home strategies
Recommendations for additional services or evaluations, when appropriate
The report is written in family-friendly language while maintaining the detail expected of a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation, making it a resource you can continue to reference as your child grows.

Your Sensory Processing Evaluation includes:
Parent intake questionnaire
Two standardized sensory assessments
60–90 minute virtual evaluation
Comprehensive written report with individualized recommendations
Email follow-up support for questions related to your report within 60 days of receiving it

A sensory processing evaluation may be helpful if your child:
Is highly sensitive to sounds, textures, clothing, grooming, lights, or movement
Constantly seeks movement, crashing, jumping, spinning, or heavy-work activities
Has frequent meltdowns or difficulty regulating emotions and behavior
Struggles with transitions or unexpected changes
Experiences feeding or oral sensory challenges
Has difficulty with attention, play, sleep, or participation in daily routines
Appears easily overwhelmed in busy environments
Has developmental concerns that may be related to sensory processing

This service is provided by Alison Hanlon, MOT, OTR/L, a licensed occupational therapist in the State of Illinois.
Sensory Processing Evaluations are available only for individuals whose permanent residence is in Illinois. At the time of the evaluation, the child must also be physically located within the state of Illinois.
This is a private-pay service and is not billed to insurance or the Illinois Early Intervention Program.
The evaluation includes a comprehensive review of caregiver concerns, standardized sensory assessments, clinical interpretation, and individualized recommendations. It is intended to provide information and guidance regarding your child's sensory processing and participation in everyday activities.
A one-time evaluation does not establish an ongoing therapeutic relationship or include ongoing occupational therapy treatment services. Families requiring continued occupational therapy or additional evaluations will receive recommendations for appropriate next steps and community resources.

This service is not contracted with insurance companies, Medicaid, or the Illinois Early Intervention Program for these services. Payment is the responsibility of the family, and payment is due prior to the scheduled evaluation.

Email communication is intended for scheduling and brief follow-up questions related to your evaluation report. Email should not be used for urgent medical concerns or emergencies.
Families may contact Alison Hanlon by email for questions related to the evaluation report for up to 60 days following report delivery.

The Sensory Processing Evaluation is a private-pay occupational therapy evaluation that includes caregiver interview, standardized assessments, clinical interpretation, and individualized recommendations. It does not include ongoing occupational therapy treatment or establish an ongoing treatment plan.
If additional evaluation or ongoing occupational therapy services are recommended, appropriate referrals and recommendations will be provided.

CU in OT does not provide emergency or crisis services. If your child is experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or seek immediate care at your nearest emergency department.
